How to redeem a Fortnite Gift Card

07 August 2026

So you or a loved one has received a Fortnite Gift Card and would like to get started on spending your V-bucks. Whatever gaming platform you’re using, redeeming a Fortnite Gift Card is quick and easy when you follow our step-by-step guide.

In this guide, we'll show you exactly how to redeem a Fortnite Gift Card on every platform. We’ll also cover what you can do if something goes wrong along the way.

Redeeming the Fortnite Gift Card in the Epic Games Store

The direct way to redeem a Fortnite Gift Card is through the Epic Games website. This method works for all players from PC players to mobile players. It’s a safe way for anyone who wants to redeem their gift card on their computer before launching the game on their chosen platform.

  1. Open a web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet and go to epicgames.com/redeem or visit fortnite.com/vbuckscard if you have a V-Bucks card.
  2. Sign in with the Epic Games account you use to play Fortnite. Make sure it is the correct account, especially if you have more than one.
  3. Click "Get Started" to begin the redemption process.
  4. Find the PIN code on the back of your physical gift card (scratch off the protective coating first) or locate it in your delivery email if you received a digital gift card.
  5. Enter the code exactly as shown, without any dashes, and click "Next."
  6. Select the platform where you want your V-Bucks or balance to be credited, such as PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or mobile.
  7. Review all the details on the confirmation screen, including your Epic Games account name, the selected gaming platform, and your new balance. If everything looks correct, click "Confirm."
  8. Launch Fortnite on your chosen device and your updated balance will be ready to spend.

If you selected PC, mobile, or Nintendo Switch as your platform, the funds are credited directly to your account. For PlayStation and Xbox, a secondary code will be generated after confirmation. You will need to redeem this secondary code on your console (see the next section for details).

How to redeem a Fortnite Gift Card on consoles

If you play Fortnite on PlayStation or Xbox, the redemption process involves one extra step that you take after using the Epic Games website. Here is how it works on each console.

PlayStation (PS4 and PS5):

  1. Complete the steps on the Epic Games website as described above and select PlayStation as your platform.
  2. After clicking "Confirm," a 12-character code will appear on your screen. Take a note or picture of this code.
  3. Now on your PlayStation. Open the PlayStation Store from the home screen.
  4. Navigate to the top menu and select "Redeem Code."
  5. Enter the 12-character code and confirm. Your V-Bucks will be added to your Fortnite account.
  6. Launch Fortnite to see your updated balance.

Make sure your PlayStation Network (PSN) account is linked to the same Epic Games account you used during the web redemption. If the accounts are not connected, the V-Bucks will not appear in your game.

Xbox (Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S):

  1. Complete the steps on the Epic Games website and select Xbox as your gaming platform.
  2. After clicking "Confirm," a 25-character Microsoft code will be generated. Take a note or picture of this code.
  3. Now on your Xbox. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  4. Navigate to the Store and select "Redeem" from the side menu.
  5. Enter the 25-character code and confirm. Your V-Bucks will be credited to your account.
  6. Open Fortnite to check your updated balance.

As with PlayStation, make sure your Xbox Live account is linked to the correct Epic Games account before you begin.

How to redeem the Fortnite Gift Card on Nintendo Switch

Redeeming a Fortnite Gift Card on Nintendo Switch works slightly differently from other consoles. The important thing to know is that you cannot redeem a V-Bucks card directly on the Nintendo Switch itself. All redemption must be done through the Epic Games website.

  1. Open a web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer and go to fortnite.com/vbuckscard.
  2. Click "Get Started" and sign in with the Epic Games account that is linked to your Nintendo Account. If you are not sure whether your accounts are connected, visit the Epic Games website, go to your account settings, and check the "Connections" section.
  3. Click "Get Started" again if prompted.
  4. Enter the PIN from the back of your Fortnite Gift Card, without dashes, and click "Next."
  5. Select "Nintendo Switch" as your platform and click "Next." If Nintendo Switch does not appear in the list, it means your Nintendo Account is not yet linked to your Epic Games account. You will need to link them first before you can proceed.
  6. Review the details on the confirmation screen. Check that the Epic Games account, platform, and new balance are all correct, then click "Confirm."
  7. Open Fortnite on your Nintendo Switch to view and spend your V-Bucks.

Keep in mind that V-Bucks redeemed on Nintendo Switch stay on that platform. Unlike other devices where V-Bucks share a single wallet, the Nintendo Switch balance is kept separate. Why can't I redeem my Fortnite Gift Card?

If your Fortnite Gift Card is not working, there are several things you can check before reaching out to customer support. Work through this checklist to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. Double-check the code for typos. The most common issue is a simple mistake when entering the code. Make sure you have not confused the letter "O" with the number "0," or the letter "I" with the number "1." Enter the code without any dashes or spaces.
  2. Confirm you are on the correct website. Only redeem your code at the official Epic Games website. Avoid third-party sites that ask for your code, as these could be scams. The official redemption pages for Fortnite gift cards are epicgames.com/redeem and fortnite.com/vbuckscard for V-bucks gift cards.
  3. Check that you are signed in to the right account. If you have multiple Epic Games accounts, make sure you are logged in to the one you use to play Fortnite. V-Bucks are tied to a specific account and cannot be transferred between accounts.
  4. Make sure your accounts are linked. If you play on a console or Nintendo Switch, your platform account (PSN, Xbox Live, or Nintendo Account) must be linked to your Epic Games account. Go to your account settings on the Epic Games website and check the "Connections" section.
  5. Try a different device or browser. Sometimes a browser issue can prevent the code from being accepted. Try switching to a different browser, clearing your cache, or using a different device such as a phone or tablet.
  6. Check whether the code has already been redeemed. Fortnite Gift Card codes can only be used once. If you or someone else has already entered the code, it will not work again.
  7. Verify the card region matches your account. Some Fortnite Gift Cards are region-specific. If the card was purchased in a different country from the one linked to your Epic Games account, it may not be accepted.
  8. Contact Epic Games support. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, visit the Epic Games support page for further assistance. They can help investigate problems with specific codes and account issues.
